Wondering how they work? 

Every surface emits heat. So does your body if you have a fever. Infrared radiation is a type of radiant energy that's invisible to the human eye but can be felt as heat. Infrared thermometers read the heat waves emitted from your body to gauge the body's temperature.

 • Infrared ear thermometers: Tip of the thermometer is covered with a disposable cover and placed near the eardrum to check the temperature.

• Hand-held thermal screener: Takes the temperature from a greater distance. Hence, used in mass thermal screenings.

• Non-contact temporal artery thermometer: Called forehead thermometer. It is held 3-15 cms away from the person's forehead or temple.
